Adding A Gateway

Tutorial Summary

This tutorial covers how to add a Global Cache GC-100-6 Gateway to the iRule application. We will also cover how to configure the Gateway and assign an IR device to an IR channel. Without adding a Gateway and assigning the Device, the iRule will not send the commands to control the device.

Add a new Gateway.
Assign a Device to an IR channel.
Configure the Gateway.

Step One: Edit

In the Gateways tab, click on the Edit button in the upper right corner.

Step Two: Adding new gateway

The Add new gateway button appears below every gateway type. Select the Add new gateway below the GC-100-6.

Step Three: Locating

The iRule application will search the network for the Gateway. The search for a Gateway can take up to sixty seconds but is typically much quicker.

Step Four: Found

The message Found new gateway :) appears once a Gateway has been found. The IP address of the Gateway is displayed in the New Gateway area. Select the IP address of the newly found Gateway to configure.

Step Five: IR Assignment

Select the IR channel that you wish to configure. Please note that the IR emitter must but physically connected to the same IR channel that is configured in the iRule for the Device to work properly.

Step Six: Add device

Press the Add device button to assign a new device to the IR channel.

Step Seven: Select device

Select the device to control from the list of your devices. Press the Save button after the device has been selected. If a device has already been assigned to another IR channel, it may not be assigned again.

Step Eight: Return

Press the New gateway button in the upper left corner to return to the Gateway configuration page.

Step Nine: Rename

Optionally, you can rename the Gateway in the configuration area. Renaming Gateways is essential if you have multiple Gateways.

Step Ten: Save

After you typed a new Gateway name, press the Done button in the bottom right corner. Press the Save button in the upper right corner to complete the New Gateway configuration.
