Hidden Panels

Tutorial Summary

This tutorial covers how to convert an existing Panel into a hidden Panel. A hidden Panel allows the user to simplify the interface by only showing the primary Panels. In this tutorial, we will use a link to go to a hidden Panel used for Gesture control of a media center PC.

  1. Open the iRule Builder.
  2. Select yes for a hidden from the Panel properties.
  3. Visible Panel.
  4. Hidden Panel.
  5. Check Link.

Step One: iRule Builder

Open the iRule Builder at http://builder.iruleathome.com . Notice that the Media Center Panel in this example is not hidden in the Panel properties.

Select yes in the hidden property under the Panel properties window. In this example we will be hiding the Media Center Gestures Panel.

The image shows a screen shot of the complete Panels list in the iRule app before the Panel was hidden.

After syncing to the iRule app, you will notice that the Media Center Gestures Panel is now hidden. The only way to reach a hidden Panel is using a Link from another visible Panel.

Verify that the link in the visible Panel is created so you have a way to navigate to the hidden.
