Transcript
Welcome to the iRule tutorial video. Lesson 3, setting up the Global Cache hardware. In this lesson, we will physically connect the Global Cache Gateway to the network and apply the InfraRed emitters.
Begin by removing the Global Cache GC-100 contents from the box. Plug the Ethernet cable to your local router or switch. Plug the IR emitter to the IR port. Please note that you will need to remember which IR device is connected to which port in the GC-100. Remove the adhesive and attach the emitter to the device you wish to control. You can find the location of the IR receiver by looking for the IR symbol found on some devices, using a flashlight or searching your manual.
Plug the GC-100 power supply into an outlet. If you have DHCP enabled in your network (most networks do by default) the GC-100 will automatically receive an IP address. The iRule can automatically find the GC-100 in your network. Alternatively, you can install the software provided by Global Cache to configure your GC-100 manually.
